Important Update from Ledyard Public Schools
March, 2021
Dear Parents and Guardians:
On February 17, 2021, the Ledyard Board of Education voted to move forward with the district’s phased plan to a more in-person model of learning. Wednesdays remain a full, virtual day of learning throughout the entire district.
● March 8th, K-2 and grade 6 return to in-person learning 4 days per week.
● March 10th Ledyard High School, grades 9-12, will continue their assigned cohorts, but with an enhanced schedule that includes virtual Wednesday learning.
● Monday, March 22nd, Ledyard Middle School students begin attending school 4 days per week with an enhanced learning experience on Wednesdays.
Beginning in March, and over the next several months, Virtual Learners/Opt Out students K-5 will see enhancements to their educational programming as we phase in dedicated virtual-learning instructors. The change will facilitate a daily synchronous experience for remote learners.
Virtual Learners/Opt Out students PK-12 who chose to return to in-person learning, must provide their school a 2-week notice for classroom assignment/return. Families who are currently opted out or wish to opt out will still have that option. Parents Opting out-Remote Model
The health and safety of our community remains my top priority, Ledyard’s phased-in approach enables us to progressively and methodically bring more of our students back to school full time, while continuing to monitor health indicators and adapt to increasing capacity. We will continue overseeing the practice of universal mitigation strategies (wearing masks, handwashing, cleaning/sanitization, social distancing, etc) and we will remain engaged with Ledge Light Health District (LLHD) for guidance.
Thank you for your participation in our recent Parent Survey. Your feedback as well as your continued support is valuable and appreciated.
Sincerely,
Jason Hartling
Superintendent of Schools
