The best way to understand culture and language is to experience another country. There are countless opportunities for you to travel abroad and experience first hand what we mean. LHS students have been all over the world, including Québec, Africa, China, Europe, Latin America, etc.
Costa Rica
Emma Reim ('09) and Lauren Lynch ('09 and not pictured) volunteered in rural Costa Rica for 6 weeks during the summer of 2007 with the AMIGOS de las Américas program.
Northern Europe

Jessica Rodgers ('10) and friends in Amsterdam on a trip through several northern european countries with the People to People: Student Ambassadors Program.
France

Host an Exchange Student
Another good cross-cultural experience is to host an exchange student from overseas.
Students from the Barcelona area of Spain come to southeastern CT every year in late June and stay for 4 weeks. If you are interested in hosting an exchange student, please read the announcement and frequently asked questions, and then email Mr. Jannke with further questions.

Honduras
Rudy Fidrych ('08) and local friends in Honduras. Rudy volunteered in a rural community for 6 weeks during the summer of 2007 with the AMIGOS de las Américas program.
